Windows Desktop Icons Disappear

Useres of Windows XP and Windows 7 complain that their desktop icons disappear randomly.

However only Microsoft KB2642357 provides a fix.

You can use the two fix it applications or manually add two registry entries:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\ScheduledDiagnostics]
"IsUnusedDesktopIconsTSEnabled"=dword:00000000
"IsBrokenShortcutsTSEnabled"=dword:00000000

After running this you can look at the file C:\Windows\diagnostics\scheduled\Maintenance\TS_BrokenShortcuts.ps1 has the text of "IsBrokenShortcutsTSEnabled" around line 30.  if so the update worked properly
